Background photo guidelines

To create a mockup that truly represents how your sign will appear in real life, we require a straight-on, uncropped full-wall photo taken from the actual viewing distance where people will see your sign.

This means:

Capture the entire wall: (edge to edge, floor to roof) without cropping

Shoot from the expected viewing distance: even if this means standing far back (including neighboring buildings or surroundings is fine, as this reflects real visibility)

Well-lit: no shadows or glares obscuring the surface

Keep the camera level: hold your phone parallel to the wall to avoid distortion

Avoid zooming in: natural distance provides proper perspective

Why? Signs are often viewed from a distance, so we need to see the full context—including scale, surroundings, and sightlines— to design for maximum impact.

Tip: Stand where your audience would typically see the sign (e.g., across the street for street-facing signs). A slightly wider shot is better than too close!
